The 'Owl Alebrije', was inspired by the Mexican Day of the Dead celebrations, mixed with my Native American traditions. I wanted to create a piece that captured the sacred richness of this yearly tradition. As well as gave a beautiful depiction of crossing over.
In this piece we see a path of Marigold flowers leading through a tunnel. At the end of the pathway is a group standing in the light, waving and greeting you. There are skulls from your past lives lining the walkway, and mystic candlelight illuminates your way. But as you start along this path, your sacred spirit animal, or Alebrije, lands to accompany you.
This majestic animal is illuminated but by an inner light. In each of its feathers are different galaxies. It is ready to join you on your next adventure, and is always by your side in other realms.
